Bio
Alice Butler Collins is an author, storyteller, workshop facilitator, poet and educator. Writing enables her to share her passion for the power of the written and spoken word.

She was born and grew up in Chicago and received degrees from Illinois State Teachers College Chicago-South, Chicago State University and National Lewis University. She spent thirty-seven years working for the Chicago Public Schools and Board of Education as a teacher, administrator, Liaison to the US Department of Education Office for Civil Rights, Special Education Due Process Coordinator and principal. She retired in 2002. She enjoys writing, traveling, reading, theater and golf.
She shares original stories and poetry during her storytelling/writing workshops and performances. She is a member of Ase: the Chicago Affiliate of the National Association of Black Storytellers. Storytelling and writing allows her to engage, empower, educate and entertain.
